Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

I like to read books here and there,
I like to read books anywhere!
On a bus or in a train,
In a car or in the rain!

With a fox while wearing socks,
With a cat in a hat,
I do so like to read, I do,
I do so like to, thanks to you!

We have quite the Dr. Seuss collection going, I have to admit they are my some of my favorite to read! One of the shelves in Henry's room is dedicated exclusively to Dr. Seuss books. And though our collection is not yet complete... we are getting there!

Until Henry was born, I hadn't read Dr. Seuss in awhile. But when I read to him it takes me back to being little. The pictures are buried in a special part of my memory, I can remember my mom reading to me and I can remember sounding out the words myself for the first time when I was learning to read.

I'm such a huge fan of reading. I hope to pass that on to my children as my mom did to me! And I think a lot of us can thank Dr. Seuss for getting us started.

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday today, I read the classic Green Eggs and Ham to Henry. This is about a 5 minute video of Henry listening to me read. Not the most exciting I'll admit, but maybe I'll take you back to your childhood for a minute or two, or you can share with your own children! Hopefully in a few years I'll be posting a video of Henry reading Dr. Seuss all by himself!

  1. Lauren, this is absolutely darling! It is so important to read to children and it is never too early to start! I'm so glad to see you sharing wonderful stories with him and he will look forward to reading as you continue to do with him! Give him a great big hug from Aunt Kangaroo! Love you all!
